Abstract

Microstrip antennas are the stronger candidate among all the wireless applications. This paper proposes the designing and use of patch antenna with circular ring-π-shaped slot to achieve a dual band operation in WiMAX and WLAN standards. The circular ring-π slot designed on patch antenna resonates at 3.33 GHz and 5.06 GHz frequencies. The antenna consists of coaxial line-fed square patch embedded with a narrow and symmetrical circular π-shaped slot to generate such a dual-band resonance. The observed bandwidths are 6.32% and 1.28% at 3.33 GHz and 5.06 GHz, respectively. The generated return losses at these resonant frequencies are -19.84 dB and -21.74 dB.
