Abstract
Optical sensors are being considered for lab-on-a-chip applications due to its small size, compatibility, and passive behaviour. Microcantilever based sensors have been demonstrated to be extremely versatile sensors and having its potential applications in chemical, biological, and physical sciences. This paper presents a platform in optical sensors mainly for hexagonal photonic crystals, which engenders high Quality Factor and Sensitivity. In this work, optical ring resonator has been integrated on cantilever beams for force sensing applications. Plane Wave Expansion, Finite Difference Time Domain method, and Finite Element Method have been used for simulations.
